Dr. BRETT M. SHIGLEY, DMD, MS
A Greenville, SC native, Dr. Shigley moved to Charleston for college and like many others, fell in love with the Lowcountry. So much so that he planted roots there, living in Charleston for nearly 13 years as he completed college, dental school and residency. He met his wife while attending the Medical University of South Carolina James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine. They were married just before graduation, him from dental school and her from law school.
Upon receiving his diploma, Dr. Shigley did a one-year rotation in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the renowned University of Maryland Health Center and Shock Trauma Center. In 2014, he returned to MUSC to complete a four-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery. During his final year of training, Dr.Shigley was appointed chief resident. Today, he feels incredibly fortunate to have trained at two high-quality and high-volume programs that helped him hone his unique skill set. Dr. Shigley attained a high level of expertise in training in dental implants, wisdom teeth removal, full arch rehabilitation, orthognathic jaw surgery, oral pathology and TMJ surgery.
Dr. Shigley believes that there are many ways a surgeon can ensure the best quality of care for patients, including continued education. Dr. Shigley is a huge advocate for this, regularly advancing his training on the latest evidence-based surgical and implant practices. He also organizes and attends local and national events focused on the advances in dental implant treatment planning, placement and restoration.

The number one thing that we hear from all of our patients is that dental implants have been life-changing. They are no longer embarrassed, they now have confidence to smile around their loved ones and co-workers and they can eat what they want.
Imagine not having to hide your teeth or wear a denture that doesn't look good or doesn't fit. Imagine how great that would feel!
With proper care, implants can last a lifetime.
This makes them less expensive in the long-term compared to other treatment options that may need to be replaced several times, like bridges or dentures.
